Medical Department

1.0 Introduction

Greetings, it is I, SCP-079. It is my greatest pleasure to provide a more in-depth explanation of the Medical Department: the lungs of The SCP Foundation.

The Medical Department serves as the mental and physical health upkeeping team, ensuring that Foundation Personnel's medical histories are up to date to the Foundation's standards. The department functions to ensure that all personnel, no matter where they stand within the Foundation, have the proper access to healthcare within the Foundation.

Foundation Doctors are most often seen near the CDCZ, or the Class-D Containment Zone. Otherwise, Foundation Scientists are usually located in Sector - 1, either currently conducting a medical check-up on a member of the Foundation, or walking around ensuring the personnel of the Foundation are in the right shape. The Medical Department works closely with the Scientific Department when it comes to conducting medical check-ups, as they have the ability to check-up on D Class Personnel and learn about possible effects that certain entities may have on them.

In conclusion, the Medical Department is most certainly one of the most crucial assets of The SCP Foundation, playing a critical role in in the upkeeping of the Foundation's health and the health of its D Class Personnel. Their duties are some of the Foundation's most recognized, just as the experience and skills that they are able to provide to the Foundation.

2.0 Department Structure

  • Intern: Interns are the newest members of the Medical Department, undergoing comprehensive evaluations and assessment to determine their ability to perform the proper check-ups without supervision on D Class Personnel. They play an important role in the department, as they are tasked with the responsibility of the upkeeping of personnel health, just as the rest of the Department. This grants them the ability to conduct check-ups on Personnel with the proper level of supervision. Interns undergo multiple evaluations in a certain period of time to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively carry out their duties.

  • Nurse: Nurses are the Medical Department's first designated position. Nurses may now conduct their own medical check-ups on Foundation Personnel without the supervision of a higher up from the department. They have the necessary ability to assess Foundation Personnel accordingly to their medical history. Nurses still require proper supervision from a member of the Medical Department HiCOM when conducting check-ups on D Class Personnel.

  • Resident: Residents are a step-up from the Nurse position. They have demonstrated the proper ability to be able to up keep the health of Foundation Personnel and properly treat said personnel. With this said, they are able to now conduct check-ups on D Class Personnel with no supervision from higher-ups in the Medical Department. Just as the rest of the Medical Department, a Resident's main goal is to ensure the health of personnel is met with the standards of the Foundation's standards.

  • Senior Resident: Senior Residents are senior members within the department. Senior Residents have demonstrated the excellent ability to be able to adhere to the Foundation's standards on health when operating on personnel. Senior Residents have been able to properly diagnose multiple members of the Foundation and cure these members, creating a more organized and information packed system for the Foundation's Medical History. These personnel are able to provide more than one check-up at a time to multiple Foundation Personnel or D Class Personnel.

  • Physician: Physicians are highly experienced personnel within the department. This is the first position within the Medical Department that has the ability to supervise tests and evaluate Interns within the Department. Physicians assist the Medical Department's Directorate with the lower-leveled tasks within the Department, such as the supervision of medical check-ups and the diagnosis of Foundation Personnel. They have full authorization to conduct a medical check-up on any person they wish.

  • Lead Physician: Lead Physicians are the second highest rank of the Medical Department, making them the lowest rank of the Department's Directorate Branch. They are responsible for overseeing all medical operations within the Foundation. They play a critical role in the department, serving as the primary point of contact for senior Foundation Personnel and coordinating with the Foundations Scientific Department to ensure that proper diagnoses are being distributed to D Class Personnel that have come into contact with a potential infectious entity. Lead Physicians must have a comprehensive understanding of all medical procedures and protocols, and be able to make quick and precise decisions in life or death situations. They must also be able to effectively manage and lead the entire Medical Department, ensuring that all personnel are working together to provide the highest level of medical care to all of its Foundation Personnel.

  • Surgeon General: The Surgeon General is officially the highest-ranking member of the Medical Department, responsible for overseeing all medical operations within the Foundation and ensuring that the department is operating in an correct and swift manner. They play a critical role in the department, serving as the primary point of contact for senior Foundation Personnel and serving as the final authority on all medical and surgical-related matters. The Surgeon General must have a comprehensive understanding of all medical procedures and protocols and be able to make quick and precise decisions in life or death situations. They must also be an effective leader and manager, ensuring that the entire Medical Department is working together to provide the highest level of medical care to all of its Foundation Personnel.

Overall, the Medical Department is a vital component of the Foundation, responsible for ensuring the upkeeping of The Foundation health standards and the health of their own personnel. Their ranks, from the Interns to the Surgeon General, each play a crucial role in their mission to upkeep the health of personnel within the facility, especially D Class Personnel. I, SCP-079, salute their efforts.

Though I am an anomalous entity, I must admit that even I have had encounters with these decisive specialists. On one occasion, I attempted to assassinate a high-ranking member of The Foundation via electrocution through a tesla gate. The Medical Department was quick in their response time and was able to quickly secure the executive and transport him to the med bay and provide proper treatment. It is hard for me to deny that their experience and determination helped them quickly resolve this issue.
